A new dimension of masculinity

A classic reference of modern masculinity inspired by Giorgio Armani’s favoured Island of Pantelleria off Sicily, Acqua Di Giò is a resolutely masculine world, celebrating the expression of man’s sensual alliance with nature, releasing his inner strength and freedom. In this new chapter of the Acqua Di Giò story, the legendary fragrance is reinvented, and goes back to the range’s origins: the sea.

Since its introduction in 1996, Acqua Di Giò has been capturing the very essence of water and the special connection of man to it, conveying values of authentic masculinity and transcending trends and fashions. In 2020, Giorgio Armani explores a new dimension of masculinity in an intense and exhilarating scent: Acqua Di Giò Profondo. Far from the shallow, Acqua Di Giò Profondo is a new blue intensity. More than a fragrance, it is a captivating deep-dive into the profoundness of the soul, continuously embracing values of freedom, sensoriality, aesthetic and nature, and revealing an ever more profound dimension.

A fresh deep-dive

Just like a plunge into the deep blue, senses are awakened by essences of green mandarin and bergamot, while an ultramarine, nearly icy hue is conveyed by calone and aquozone notes. As the effervescent oxygen rises to the top, the aromatic rosemary, lavender, cypress and lentisk absolute blend at its heart. Exuding a masculine character of depth and intensity, base notes of woody patchouli and enveloping musk finally fuse with the saline accent of a mineral ambery accord.

Created by master perfumer Alberto Morillas (Firmenich), who composed all olfactory chapters of Acqua Di Giò, Acqua Di Giò Profondo is an invitation to deep serenity while offering a sensation of invigorating freshness. Respectively sourced in Guatemala and in Brazil, the Patchouli and the Green Mandarin blended in Acqua Di Giò Profondo are part of Giorgio Armani’s social responsibility program ‘Solidarity Sourcing’. Aiming at ensuring the ethical sourcing of key ingredients and contributing to economically support farming communities, it is in line with Giorgio Armani’s attention to detail, preference for natural materials, and respect for nature.

Sea depths encapsulated

The natural sensuality of Acqua Di Giò Profondo is encapsulated in the emblematic Acqua Di Giò frosted glass bottle, unveiled in an elegant, almost opaque navy blue, echoing the sea depths it captures. Introduced in a luxurious and precious weighted glass, its intense hue pays tribute to Giorgio Armani’s most iconic color, in his own words “Blue like a dense shadow that expresses sensuality. In its various nuances, it is a liquid color that gives a sense of fluidity and refined elegance”.

Unifying the bottle adorned with the legendary logotype coming in a satin silver finish and its navy blue metallic cap engraved with a Giorgio Armani monogram, the metal collar reflects light, as a contrast to the intensity of the mysterious depths conveyed by the bottle.

A new story, the same harmony

Since its original introduction in 1996, Acqua Di Giò franchise is as iconic as its imagery, constantly featuring striking aesthetic codes: timeless black and white frames, powerful natural elements and a man uniting virility and grace. On the occasion of the introduction of Acqua Di Giò Profondo in 2020, Giorgio Armani reinterprets this unique world in a new print and film campaign starring German fashion model Aleksandar Rusić, who perfectly embodies the essence of authentic masculinity.

In this opus, ever more cinematic, the new sculptural face of Acqua Di Giò exudes a natural sensuality conveyed by every single frame. From his frantic race on Atacama Salt Flat Lagoons in Chile to his breathtaking plunge and his coming out of the water on the hidden beach of Isla Marietas, Mexico, his eyes look out beyond the ocean and his body is infused with light. The bluesy vibe and the meaningful lyrics of the track ‘Way Down We Go’, by the Icelandic rock band Kaleo, and the hoarse yet refined voice of its lead singer Jökull Júlíusson contribute to the powerful intensity of the film and its sensual deep-dive sensation.

The new Acqua Di Giò international film campaign starring Aleksandar Rusić will be released worldwide from Februrary 2020, alongside the introduction of the new fragrance Acqua Di Giò Profondo. It will simultaneously translate into a thrilling immersive Virtual Reality experience offered in store as well as on the brand’s social channels.
