In her role as Director of L’ÉCOLE Middle East, School of Jewelry Arts, Sophie Claudel is contributing to the launch and overall strategic development of L’ÉCOLE in the region in accordance with L’ÉCOLE worldwide strategic objectives. Sophie has been awarded Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite and Chevalier des Arts et Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 2017 and 2018.
She was previously Cultural Attache and Head of the Arts Department of the French Embassy in the UK before moving to the US where she designed and directed all bilateral programming for the visual arts, design, architecture, theatre, music and dance, partnering with international organisations throughout the US, the UK, France and Europe. Sophie founded and directed a London based production Company, Le Consortium London, an arts strategy consultancy working with architecture firms on projects such as the design of arts programs in public space.
Sophie holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Policy and Museology, specializing in International Relations from Université de Bourgogne in France. Sophie has over 20 years of experience as an advisor and designer of multilateral cultural policy and events within the diplomatic, arts and cultural sectors. In her recent position, Sophie served as a Director of ENSA Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art, one of the 10 National Art Schools in France under the authority of Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Higher Education wherein she was responsible for implementing the vision for arts and higher education.
