The Le Coq Sportif x Opium sneakers are inspired by the Freestyle, a pair of mountain bike shoes straight from le coq sportif’s archives in tribute to Parisian youth embodied by the shop’s three founders, Mounir, Yace and Farid. The sneaker and street art-loving trio care as much about the features as the fabrics; premium smooth leather, period nylon, micro-perforated suede and a nubuck base.

Pink and purple panels vamp up the model and echo the OG colour blocking. The pair’s cement grey heel is a reference to «L’écoute», the stone sculpture in the heart of Châtelet-Les-Halles where they would meet before going to graffiti the streets of Paris. The inner sole features an all-over print of the three childhood friends’ artwork on the capital’s walls. Splashed with colourful yellow, purple and pink inserts, what sets the outer sole apart is that it’s phosphorescent. The le coq sportif and Opium logos are embroidered in gold on the tongue and in purple on the back of each shoe. «Made in France» appears on the pair’s lace tabs.
